About Us:
Cavandoragh Methodist Church is one of four Churches on the Castlederg Methodist Circuit. The faith community here dates back to the early 1800s. Wesley himself preached in the yard of the Smiths' farm at Magheralough. He referred to the little society meeting at Cavandoragh in his journals as ‘the school of the prophets’. Its history boasts some 30+ of Mr Wesley’s preachers and some of our existing ministers can trace their ancestry back to Cavandoragh.
Cavandoragh has a friendly family feel to it. Children (Young and old) are all very welcome to our services. The families are all very hospitable and welcoming and they won't mind where you sit when you visit.
Sunday worship is weekly at 9:45 am on Sunday morning. Sunday school follows morning worship.
Communion:
We have our Communion Service once a month and this involves eating a small piece of bread and drinking a little glass of red grape juice. This is done by Christian believers in memory of the death and resurrection of Jesus. But if you prefer not to take part you may remain seated and no one will mind.
Your First Visit:
If you will be a new visitor to Cavandoragh then you will be made feel very welcome. We are a rural church so please take the time to visit the link at the top of the page to a map of our location. Unfortunately, we don't have signs directing people to our church (but we are working on that). We are a family based church and we welcome every member of your family (no matter how noisey) so please do bring everyone along and don't feel anyone should be left out just because they are young. Our services are relaxed and follow a familiar format involving Hymns, Readings and a Sermon. We encourage the congregation to participate in readings and music, but don't worry if you are shy no one will force you to participate because we we will value just having you with us. Normally after each service the Sunday School meet while the remainder of the congregation who can stay behind retreat to our new kitchen for a cuppa and some craic.
Monthly Evening Worship:
We have a relaxed evening service on the first Sunday of each month (except July and August) when we have a variety of speakers and musicians who join us for praise and worship. This service takes place at 7.30pm and is followed by supper.
Final Check:
If you are intending to travel a distance to worship with us we would recommend that you check our website calendar to ensure that there will be a service in Cavandoragh as we do have united circuit services for special occasions held around the different societies that make up Castlderg Circuit.
