Report on final Congregational Meeting before building work begins on Cavandoragh

A final congregational meeting was held on Friday 11th March in Cavandoragh Methodist Church in order to make final decisions before builders begin work on our church.
Decisions were made by the congregation to:
  1. Remove and sell the pews, replacing them with individual seats.  This will allow for the church to be a multipurpose venue.
  2. To remove the fixed elevated pulpit and replace this with a portable reading desk and removable communion rail.
  3. To sell the Bangor Blue Slates from the roof and replace these with new Spanish slates.
  4. To use the panels of the old pulpit elsewhere within the new church rather than selling the pulpit with the pews.
  5. To enlarge the car park, tarmac it and enclose it within a wall.
The meeting went well with the majority of those attending approving each of the above decisions.  Although the whole congregation was not present the majority of families were represented.
There will be a final closing ceremony on Sunday 20th March 2005 in Cavandoragh Church at 7.30pm.  The service will be taken by Rev. Ewing with Rev. Agnew (District Superintendent) in attendance.  The Preacher will be Rev. David Neilands, Chaplin of Methodist College Belfast and friend of Cavandoragh Church.
Everyone is invited to attend the service, which will be followed by supper.
